Originally called "Saint-Eustache-sur-le-Lac" after it was founded inside 1921, it changed its name to Deux-Montagnes within 1963.
A title "Deux-Montagnes" itself dates to 1674 when it was given to the lake that fill in front of Deux-Montagnes, & to the seigneury which stood north of the flow of any stream.
A accurate origin of this title is indecipherable, however these are thought to refer to the ii greatest points of Mont Oka, or to the fact, while seen from either the few feet away, Mont Oka in the north & Mont Rigaud to a south appear to exist as neighbouring the flow of any stream.
